February 3, 2025 – Healthway Cancer Care Hospital (HCCH) stands in solidarity with the nation in raising cancer awareness, fostering hope, and reinforcing its commitment to fighting the disease. As part of the National Cancer Awareness Month celebration, HCCH hosted a special event that underscored its mission to support patients, survivors, and the broader cancer community.
Last October, HCCH had the privilege of meeting Ms. Janine Sabater, a breast cancer patient whose journey embodies resilience, courage, and hope. Ms. Sabater actively participated in HCCH’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiatives, becoming an inspiring figure within the community. During the February 3 event, HCCH presented Ms. Sabater with a wig—a heartfelt gesture symbolizing her endurance and the unwavering support of the hospital in her battle against cancer.
Displaying a powerful visual statement of solidarity, HCCH illuminated the hospital facade in purple, a color recognized globally for cancer awareness. This symbolic act served as a beacon of support not only for National Cancer Awareness Month but also in anticipation of World Cancer Day.
In his speech, Dr. Ramy Roxas, Chief Operating Officer of HCCH, reinforced the institution’s unwavering dedication to personalized cancer care. “Our theme, ‘Every cancer is unique, but we fight it together,’ acknowledges the individuality of the disease while emphasizing the collective strength we bring to the fight against cancer. It highlights the power of collaboration – the combined expertise of our doctors, nurses, support staff, and most importantly, the courage of our patients and the support of their families,” he stated. Dr. Roxas further emphasized that while medical advancements play a crucial role in treatment, true healing extends beyond technology—it thrives in an environment of compassion, empathy, and unwavering support.
Beyond the event, HCCH remains steadfast in its advocacy. Throughout February, the hospital has initiated several activities to sustain awareness and engagement, including wearing purple on Tuesdays, distributing purple ribbons, and unveiling a Purple Ribbon installation as a visual representation of collective support for cancer patients.
By bringing together patients, healthcare professionals, and the community, HCCH continues to strengthen its role as a beacon of hope and a leading advocate for cancer awareness. This event, and the ongoing initiatives, stand as a testament to HCCH’s dedication—not just to treating cancer but to empowering every individual impacted by it.
