The Nursing Supervisor has extensive clinical education to understand the biological, physiological and social factors present in any given medical situation. She/He must have a sound judgment of any clinical and critical situation in the floors assigned. The Nursing Supervisor position is a culmination of real-world, clinical experience and the quality of their professional education. Extensive troubleshooting, resolution and follow up on high profile issues required. Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills. Must be willing to be rotated in different floors.

- Assist in assessing, processing and discharging patients
- Providing a direct line of communication between patients, nursing staff and physicians
- Conducts rounds frequently in floors, ensuring all things are well kept and organized.
- Have frequent checks of staff activities and ensuring patient needs are being met
- Facilitates movement of patients to appropriate and alternate levels of care as needed and has the authority to facilitate the opening of transitional beds/unit in order to maximize patient throughput and ease excess capacity. This also includes patient access, transfer center and system wide coordination.
- Takes physician orders and completes admission assessments and other admission activities in times of unusually high activity.
- Maximizes patient throughput and access by working with Nursing divisions, Surgical areas and ED to adequately plan for admissions and discharges.
- Assures adequate staffing in all areas of the hospital and ensures that staffing changes are implemented quickly. Manages fluctuations in patient census utilizing productivity targets, staffing grids and appropriate resources.
- Promotes Relationship Based Care and models and essential behaviors during all interactions with patients, physicians and employees.
- Provides guidance to the Head Nurse and their respective teams in the assigned unit
- Acts as OIC in the absence of Nurse Managers
- Must be able to do presentations and reports needed as requested
- Will manage and provide basic and comprehensive nursing guidance and care based on National Nursing Standards and the approved nursing process.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates care plans in collaboration with the patient, the significant others, and the whole healthcare team.
- Provides health teaching relevant to nursing care.
- Maintains accurate and complete documentation of nursing care.
- Ensures confidentiality of care and provides relevant information to the healthcare team.
Requirements
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing and holder of a valid PRC License (Nurse)
- Master’s degree and certain certifications applicable to their field will be an advantage.
- Must have extensive experience in a supervisory/leadership position managing a team of nurses with experience in Oncology, OR, Critical Care, and/or Emergency Room in a JCI accredited hospital
- Has a demonstrated ability to provide consistent quality patient care with a keen eye for detail, organizational skills and effective time management
- With experience in instructing clinical support employees on proper treatment procedures
- Demonstrated competence as a clinical practitioner.
- Proven knowledge of insurance, hospital and professional regulations is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership, management and human relations skills required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, physician relations experience strongly preferred.
- A positive attitude and a propensity for leadership and team-building with the ability to problem-solve under pressure
- Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office Information technology skills required.
- Good communication and coordination skills
