The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT imaging and quality control procedures. This may include but is not limited to radiopharmaceutical injection, post-processing of nuclear medicine and PET-CT images, reception work, and other procedures done at Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT. Responsible for records management of the department. Provide quality and safe patient care. Supports the goals and functions of the department.
- Assesses/interviews patient who will undergo Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT Scan procedures
- Performs quality Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT Scan procedures
- Performs daily/periodic quality control procedures of the imaging and non-imaging procedures
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceutical for diagnosis and radioactive treatment
- Stores radiopharmaceuticals and dispose of radioactive materials while following radiation safety procedures
- IV cannulation
- Assist the Authorized User (Nuclear Medicine Physician) in preparation and administration of Therapeutic Radioactive Iodine-131 (RAI) and Lutetium-177, and monitor their radiation levels
- Assist the Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) in performing Radiation Protection and Safety measures, such as Radiation Survey Monitoring
- Explain procedures and safety precautions to patients/relatives and provide them with assistance during test procedures
- Post-processing of Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT images
- Conducts complete patient medical history and acquires accurate patient parameters (height, CBG, BP, Pulse rate, 02 saturation)
- Performs clerical tasks and mans the reception area in the absence of the Nuclear Medicine Clerk
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations of the department/hospital
- Follow radiation protection and safety techniques, such as using protective barriers/devices and other shielding instruments, reducing time spent with radioactive substances, and maximize the distance from the radioactive source, to minimize patient, staff, and public radiation exposure.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending trainings, seminars, conventions and attending departmental meetings
- Ensures confidentiality of records and processes data in adherence to data privacy law and data privacy policy of the Hospital
- Encoding and printing of nuclear medicine and PET-CT result
- Other duties or ad hoc tasks/projects that may be assigned
Requirements
Education (any one of the following)
- BS Radiologic Technology graduate with valid PRC license as Radiologic Technologist
- BS Medical Technology graduate with valid PRC license as Medical Technologist
Experience
- At least 1 year previous experience in Nuclear Medicine, PET-CT, and CT scan
- With Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) – Course on Medical-Use of Radioisotopes (CMR) training course
Preferred Skills
- Computer literate
- Ability to work under pressure
- Venipuncture / Intravenous (IV) Cannulation / Phlebotomy
